Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand - Sale of Tickets (to all Licensed Members)

Dear RUM Member,
As you may be aware, the Rugby World Cup 2011 will be held in New Zealand as
from Friday 9th September and the final is to be held on Sunday 23rd October 2011.
As a non-participating Union, RUM is allowed to buy 10 tickets per game and we are therefore pleased
to announce all Licensed Members this year that they are allowed to make their booking through RUM’s Office.
In the download section, you will find a self-explanatory document from IRB giving all the details of the organization for the sale of tickets to non-participating Unions. The Venue of games and price of tickets are on page 15.
You are now invited to choose your game and make your booking through RUM’s Office and have until
Friday 30th July at latest to send us your booking. As soon as we receive your booking, we will confirm it and you will have until Friday 20th August to send us your payment.
As soon as we confirm your reply, you will be instructed about the payment method.

Mauritius Winner of CAR Trophy Tournament South

During that Final, Mauritius played Tanzania and was great Winner of that
Tournament with scores of 21 vs 13.

CAR Tournament Trophy South being held at Arusha (Tanzania)

Mauritius played Kenya A yesterday afternoon and lost 27 to 3 at the Friedkin Recreational Center in Arusha.
The following game in that Tournament was played by Uganda A beating Tanzania 39-3.
On the 19th June, Mauritius will play Tanzania and Kenya A will play Uganda at the same venue.

The second day of games for the CAR Trophy Tournament was held yesterday at Gaborone University in Botswana.
Results are as follows :-
Botswana vs Reunion : Botswana won 42 : 17
Mauritius vs Zimbabwe : Mauritius lost 8 : 14
Madagascar vs Zambia : Madagascar won 31 : 15
Even though the Mauritian team lost but they played a real great game and lost only 6 points to that big Team of Zimbabwe.
The team is playing with a good spirit and good Rugby as well!

a) On Friday 22nd May, there is an U15 game Central against North C. Centre at Dodo Club as from 17 hrs 45.
b) Afterwards at the same venue, U17 players will compete - Central against North C. Centre as from 18 hrs 40.
Rugby Union Mauritius has been invited by 'Faucon Flacq Sporting Club' to participate in its Sports Day on Saturday 23rd May. The U11 & U13 players of the 3 Coaching Centres will therefore participate in a Tournament at Auguste Vollaire Stadium as from 15 hrs 00.
In conclusion for the week-end, the Senior Clubs will have their last game before the finals of next week. Northern Pirates will play against Highland Blues Curepipe Starlights S.C. at Belle Vue as from 16 hrs 00.

We request the presence of all Club Players (youngest ones born in 1992)

Dear All,
We hope that you all had a nice break for the festive season and that 2009 has well started. Please find hereunder a mail of information about a few issues :-
Annual Rugby Licenses
Kindly note that for the past five consecutive years, the Annual License Fee has remained unchanged, and this year, it has been decided upon RUM’s Management Committee that the license fees will be increased as follows :-
All Junior Players (under 18 years) : Fee of Rs 1,000.- ,
All Senior Players (18 yrs & over) + Officials : Fee of Rs 1,500.-
As the Rugby Season is starting soon, all players need to renew their licenses now. It is understood that no player will be allowed to train or play without having his license renewed.
We would be grateful if you could either contact your child’s coach or send your renewal fee directly to RUM’s office by post so that the renewal process could be done smoothly and without rush.
It is also understood that all Officials including Coaches, Referees, First Aiders, etc. need to be licensed as they are all Union Members. For all Officials who are still not licensed, we encourage them to send
their Membership Application Form annexed, (which is also found on the Website section ‘Downloads’), together with 2 passport photos and Rs 1,500.- to RUM’s Office.
You should also bear in mind that the license fee includes an insurance cover as nobody knows what can happen on a Rugby field either during a training session or during a game.
Training
We will inform players of each Coaching Centre / Club soon regarding the resuming of Training sessions.
Rugby Season
The Rugby Season is due to start by the beginning of March, depending upon the Calendar which will be official by next month.

Please note that should you have any Insurance Claims to send us for this year, the deadline to do so is on Thursday 18th December at latest as otherwise, RUM’s Office will be closed.
Next year, Albatross will not cater for pending Insurance Claims of 2008.
Should you have any pending claims, kindly fill in and sign the form (found in the Download section of the website).
You should enclose all original receipts, reports from doctors + pharmacy and send all to RUM’s Office by post at the address underneath.
Kindly collaborate so that all claims are sent on time to Albatross and also to give them enough time to process them until the end of the year.

Businessmen Rugby Game - Mauritius vs Reunion

We had a Businessmen Rugby Team who travelled to Mauritius last Friday 5th December, in order to compete against our Golden Oldies' Team. The game was held at Riverland 19 hrs 30.
All players really enjoyed that game, it was a real good opportunity for all of them to play together after such a long time. The game was really interesting and Mauritius won against Reunion.

Women's Rugby for the first time in Mauritius

For the first time we are having two Women's Team in Mauritius. On Wednesday 30th April, there were the first 7-a-side Women's Games where Central was competing against the West.
It was a good experience for the players and the game ended with a draw, 10-10 on each side.

The Prize Giving Ceremony held on Friday 30th November was quite a success and all Coaches, Referees, First Aiders as well as winning teams were awarded their prizes.
For 2007, Western Cowboys was the overall Winner of Seven A-7 Tournament, Championship and League.
U15 Central Coaching Centre was also the overall winner for 2007 by winning the Seven's Tournament, Championship and League.
U17 Central Coaching Centre won the Seven's Tournament, Championship and the U17 Finals for League will be on Friday 7th December at Dodo Club.

Beach Rugby Tournament on Saturday 15th December 2007

‘Rugby Union Mauritius’ together with ‘Update Events & Promotions Ltd.’ are jointly organizing a Beach Rugby Tournament to be held on Saturday 15th December 2007 at Flic en Flac from 09 hrs 00 to 17 hrs 00.
There will be 3 categories : Men, Women and Under 15 years.
Each team will choose his Captain and a Participation Fee per person of Rs 100 (for all Mauritians) and Euros 10 (for all non-Mauritians) will be applicable.
Each team will be made up of 8 players (5 players on the beach and 3 spare players)
In keeping with the idea of a family day and to prevent players from any risk of injury, tackling, kicking and scrums will not be included in the games.

written by Rugby Union Mauritius on 2007-08-09Our Rugby Team is participating in the Indian Ocean Games in Madagascar and they are on their way this morning.
In the event of the Indian Ocean Games this year, Seven's Rugby is being represented as Exhibition Sport.
The Team of Rugby Union Mauritius is on their way to Madagascar this morning. They will stay at La Muraille de Chine Hotel in Antananarivo from 9th to 12th August.

written by Rugby Union Mauritius on 2007-06-18Our Junior U13 - U17 players will be playing the Finals on Friday 29th June 2007 at Riverland Sports Club as from 18 hrs 00.
After these Championship games, our junior U13 - U17 players will now be playing the Finals on Friday 29th June 2007 at Riverland Sports Club as from 18 hrs 00.
These final games will be followed by a Dancing Party organised by Riverland Sports Club as from 22 hrs 00. Entrance Fee for Disco Party is at Rs 150.-
Game of 'Pre-selected' Senior National Team & Training Sessions

The first training session of our 'Pre-selected' Senior National Team was last Saturday 26th May 2007 at Belle Vue. The meeting with all players and coaches was scheduled at 13 hrs 30 for the training, followed by a game against the Champion Team of St. Paul / Reunion. It was great to hear that our team won 26 vs 19.
Training Sessions will be as follows :-
Wednesday : 18 hrs 00 - 20 hrs 00 @ Riverland Sports Club
Friday : 18 hrs 00 - 20 hrs 00 @ Dodo Club

CAR Castel Beer Cup Tournament - South Pool B
written by Rugby Union Mauritius on 2007-04-06Here we go again for our International Tournaments! We have the great pleasure to announce that our National Team will participate in the CAR Castel Beer Cup Tournament in Botswana
The CAR Castel Beer Cup Tournament will be held in Botswana from the 16th to 22nd July 2007.
Our National Team will play on Tuesday 17/07, Thursday 19/07 and Saturday 21/07 and will leave Botswana on the 22nd July 2007.
Amongst Mauritius, the other participating countries in the South Pool B are :
Botswana, Reunion and Swaziland.

South Coaching Centre
written by Rugby Union Mauritius on 2007-04-06See how fast Rugby is moving in this small island! A new Coaching Centre is being created in the South.
Since the beginning of this year, a new Coaching Centre is being set-up in the south of the island.
For the time being, only U9 - U13 players have joined this Coaching Centre.
Players train at Pointe d'Esny every Saturday morning.
In the months to come, these players will surely be ready enough to participate in the tournaments held by Rugby Union Mauritius.

Rugby in the Indian Ocean Games
written by Rugby Union Mauritius on 2007-04-06You won't believe it, after 28 years, Rugby will once again be represented in the Indian Ocean Games! Don't miss the 7's Rugby to be held on Saturday 11th August 2007 from 09 hrs 00 to 18 hrs 00 at the Municipal Stadium of Mahamasina in Madagascar!
Rugby participated in the first Indian Ocean Games in 1979.
Since then, Presidents of several Unions have been battling for the representation of Rugby in the Indian Ocean Games. After 28 years, they finally won! Rugby is being represented this year as a sport of demonstration - 7's Rugby.
Our National Team will be present on the 11th August 2007 in Madagascar among the 5 participating Islands. The following islands are also participating : Madagascar, Reunion, Seychelles and Mayotte.
Opening of Quatre Bornes Coaching Centre

Quatre Bornes Coaching Centre is the fourth Coaching Centre of Rugby Union Mauritius and is official since August 2006. The players train at St Esprit College on Thursday evenings from 16 hrs 30 to 18 hrs 00.
For the time being there are 3 age groups U13, U15 and U17. We invite all players from surrounding areas, schools and colleges to join our Coaching Centre.
